Group Operations’ 2007 Plans: Offshoring, Outsourcing, Site Closures & Yet More Staff Reductions

Group Operations Senior Management has announced further major staff reductions during 2007 as it presses ahead to achieve cost savings of £121 million a year by 2010.

Over 1,250 Group Operations staff are expected to be directly affected be staff cutting measures during this year, with overall staff numbers being slashed by over 750.

More Than 150 HR Job Losses As Work Offshored To India

The Bank has announced plans to offshore the work of more than 150 Human Resources Staff to India.

Following completion of the feasibility study it announced earlier this year, Senior Management have confirmed that it will be linking up with the offshoring specialist company Xansa, to progressively transfer the work of the following HR functions in two phases over the next 13 months.

Group Audit: Homeworking & Daily Allowance Survey

Over recent weeks LTU has raised a number of important issues regarding staff management practices within Group Audit. There have also been two matters of immediate concern upon which senior management had previously failed to consult LTU: the withdrawal of Homeworking and of the Daily Allowance.

Shortly, Senior Management will present LTU with proposals in an effort to see whether satisfactory progress can be made in resolving staff concerns over plans to withdraw existing Homeworking arrangements and the payment of the £5 Daily Allowance.

Group Audit: Senior Management ‘Run For Cover’

Last week, LTU issued a Newsletter exposing the appalling treatment of Group Audit Staff.

But rather than either contesting the points made by LTU - or taking the opportunity to discuss how the working environment can be improved - a meeting scheduled for Thursday between Group Audit Top Management and LTU has been cancelled.

The Newsletter obviously struck a chord with staff, with many members providing their support for what LTU has said and - despite our already high membership - more staff deciding now is the time to join LTU.
