CAB Office To Close
Date: 11th Jun 2003
The Bank has announced that it is to cease Centralised Appointment Booking (CAB) work out of its Glasgow and Newport Contact Centres with effect from 14th August 2003. The decision is due to lower than anticipated take up and overall 374 staff will be affected, 170 in Glasgow and 204 in Newport.

LTU has worked closely with the Bank to ensure that staff are fully protected and the Bank has guaranteed that all staff affected will be found alternative posts.

In Glasgow this is to be achieved by the introduction of a new Outbound Relationship Unit with 103 full time equivalent staff, that will effectively replace CAB when it is launched in August.

In Newport staff will be redeployed into existing Phonebank operations such as teleservice, inbound calls, sales support teams and Internet.

'Job Shops' will be set up in Newport to provide information on the roles on offer, so that staff will have sufficient information to state their preferences for redeployment. Selection and redeployment decisions will be made during July.

Because of the Bank's commitment to redeploy all staff, voluntary severance and voluntary early retirement will not be available.

LTU full time officials were on site as part of the announcement process to provide members with immediate, independent professional advice and assistance.
