LTU to Support Unfair Dismissal Case At Tribunal
|
Date: 8th Oct 2004
LTU is to assist a member from Lloyds TSB Direct Distribution, Bournemouth in contesting her unfair dismissal case before the Employment Tribunal.
The member was dismissed for alleged Persistent Short Term Absence despite the fact that her General Practitioner had certified her absences and that the bank had acknowledged her attendance had improved once she had recovered.
In the two months prior to her contract being terminated she had, in fact, achieved a 100% attendance record and 3 days before dismissal she was being praised for being the top performer in the company.
It is suspected that Direct Distribution are trying to make an example of the member concerned in an attempt to try and force down levels of sickness absence.
LTU will be using specialist solicitors to contest the case and would expect either an order to reinstate her or for compensation to be paid.
