Distributed Services to be Outcourced to Fujitsu
|
Date: 15th Dec 2004
Today Group IT will be announcing that the remaining part of Distributed Services will be outsourced to Fujitsu with effect from the 1st April 2005.
Fujitsu, which is the third largest IT services organisation in the world, and Group IT are currently involved in negotiations and a final due diligence phase will need to be completed before the final contract is signed.
According to the Bank those staff in Distributed Services who spend more than half their time on in-scope activities will be transferred to Fujitsu. Those staff that spend less than half of their time doing these activities will not be transferred. The scoping assessment is based on current activities and it is possible that as the contract negotiations progress some staff who are currently out-of-scope could find themselves in-scope and vice versa.
Group IT has said that currently 167 staff are in-scope and their contracts will be transferred to Fujitsu under the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE). Of the 167 staff affected, 90 are from the Bristol IT Service Desk which Group IT has confirmed will remain in the Bristol area.
Mark Brown, Assistant General Secretary, said, “LTU will begin detailed discussions with the Bank and Fujitsu on the outsourcing arrangements and transfer terms. Only once the Bank and Fujitsu have shared details of future plans for the transferred staff, will proper negotiations on the transfer terms commence.”
