Pay, Working Hours & Convenient Branches
|
Date: 16th Jan 2012
LTU recently met with Alison Brittain, Group Director, Lloyds TSB and BOS Community Banks, to discuss some of her key priorities for 2012. The meeting was very useful and unlike her predecessors Ms Brittain indicated a willingness to engage genuinely with LTU to deal with some of the main issues facing the Community Banks over the next few years. She had a very good reputation in Santander for trying to solve issues jointly with the main Union and hopefully she will be able to bring that same hands on approach to employee relations in Lloyds TSB and BOS.
However, before we ruin Ms Brittain’s career in Lloyds TSB, it would be churlish of us not to mention some key points of difference between us most notably in respect of pay and working hours.
Ms Brittain knows very well, having spent time working in a Lloyds TSB branch as part of her induction to the Group, that there are lots of honest, hard working members of staff who refused to sign the new contracts of employment for genuine reasons. Those staff have lived and breathed Lloyds TSB for many years and to deny them salary increases simply for wanting to protect their contractual rights is vindictive and nasty. Moreover, given that most of these staff are in the ‘Market Plus’ zone, they will once again get no salary increases for the second year running.
