10,000 Staff Say No Thanks
|
Date: 7th Jun 2011
Despite the harassment, intimidation and threats 10,000 staff, mostly working in the LTSB Community Banks with most to lose when changes in working hours are introduced later this year, have refused sign the new terms and conditions of employment. Members should also remember that when the Bank say 90% of staff are on harmonised terms and conditions, that figure includes HBOS and C&G staff who had the terms imposed on them.
In its desperation to try and get staff to sign the new contracts the Bank has even tried to bully those going on maternity leave. Staff contacting Advice and Guidance were told that to get a maternity pack they would need to sign the new contracts otherwise they would have to find the information on the intranet themselves and print it off.
The fact that so many staff have refused to sign the new contracts is a significant failure on the part of the Bank, given that many of those that signed did so not because they agreed with the new terms but because if they didn’t they would be denied future salary increases and promotions. The Bank’s aim of becoming One Bank has been missed again and the integration programme has been dealt another major body blow.
