C&G To Halt Branch Closures

Today, in a surprising U-turn, the Bank will announce that closure of the C&G Branch
Network is being reviewed. The Bank has said that it will be writing to all staff at their
home addresses to tell them that their employment will be continuing and they will no
longer be eligible for redundancy payments. Staff who have received formal offers to be
redeployed elsewhere in the group will be able to take up those offers.
The Bank has said that it will not be able to provide any reasons for its decision to reverse
the closure programme at this stage.
LTU will be meeting the Bank in the next few days to discuss the reasons behind the
decision to halt the closure programme and to discuss the implications for staff. We
will report back to members on the outcome of those discussions.
