Bank To Export Another 450 IT Jobs To India
Date: 14th May 2008
Lloyds TSB announced on 14th May that its Information Technology Division will be exporting up to a further 450 UK-based jobs to India over the next nine months.

The jobs being offshored are all from the Technical Delivery function of Lloyds TSB’s IT Division; raising to 655 the total number of jobs transferred to India by this Division alone. In the six IT Platforms affected by this phase of the offshoring programme, only 30% of all jobs will be based in the UK … with the other 70% being based in India.

The 450 jobs being offshored to India consist of up to 250 permanent Lloyds TSB Staff and a further 200 UK Contractor staff working on behalf of the Bank. Jobs are due to begin transferring to India from around August, with completion of this phase of offshoring early next year.

Once this phase of offshoring is complete, the Union expects other areas of the Information Technology Division’s 2,400 UK-based workforce to follow suit, with many hundreds more IT jobs transferring to India as a consequence. The biggest concentrations of Lloyds TSB IT Staff are based in London (1,300 staff), Wythenshawe (460 staff), Gloucester (150 staff), Birmingham and Bristol (120 staff each).
