During 2010 the Bank intends to reduce the number of sites it operates from 6 Mortgage Operations and 5 Telephony & Internet Sales sites (at some, sharing the same sites). This will directly affect 1,088 staff.
Just over 300 staff will lose their jobs, whilst up to 700 more staff will be required to either move sites or else redeploy onto different types of work.
- Mortgages intends to pull out of 11 of its 18 sites during 2010 - including Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds Lovell Park, Leeds West Bank, Manchester, Preston and West Kent.
- The first two sites that Mortgages intends to close – during January 2010, are HBOS’s operations at Ettrick House Edinburgh (231 staff) and Preston (11 staff).
- Depending upon whether other LBG activities exist on the sites, whether Mortgages work is ending and the proximity to other Mortgages sites, staff will be either expected to transfer into alternative roles, switch business units or move between work locations.
