Ian Barratt
Ian was born and raised in the North West of England and worked in engineering for several years before joining Lloyds Bank in 1969, a decision he says he has never regretted. Having worked in several branches in South Manchester, Ian achieved his first management appointment in 1977 and in 1980 became a Training Manager. In 1982 he moved to Lancashire and undertook the role of Operations Manager, which provided an emphasis on people, business development and customer service. From here Ian moved to Merseyside as a Branch Manager, responsible for all staffing matters, as well as personal and business lending. As the Senior Human Resources Manager and Business Partner to the Directors of these business units he was involved in much of the organisational change. Ian began working for LTU soon after he retired in 2005 after 37 years service in the Bank. This has given him a real understanding of the issues that staff face and how it can affect them, all of which has provided him with the skills and knowledge needed to assist members who are experiencing problems at work.
Joy Taylor
Joy joined the Bank in 1965 as a school leaver. As a new entrant she was trained as a clerk and gradually progressed to a cashiering role. After this Joy joined the new Marketing Department of the Bank, where she was involved in activities designed to promote the business. Joy then moved into Training and was involved in running weeklong sales courses for Branch Managers and Supervisory staff. From there Joy moved into HR and was involved in all types of recruitment. After the merger with Lloyds Bank, Joy specialised in Disciplinary and Grievance work and went on to create the Bank's original Harassment and Bullying Investigation Unit. After taking early retirement from the Bank, Joy began working for LTU and now represents LTU members at all levels.
Joe Harrison
Joe has 31 years experience working for the Lloyds Banking Group, in a career that has spanned numerous roles in both Commercial Banking and the Retail Bank. During his career he's undertaken roles including cashiering, regulated and non-regulated selling and lending both personal and commercial. This has provided an in-depth understanding of many of the challenges managers face in performing their roles within the Bank. He also has experience at a Senior Manager level, having been a Local Director in the Retail Bank and an Area Director in Commercial Banking for many years. Since retiring from the Bank he has worked on LTU's Advice Line and acted as an LTU Individual Advice and Representation Consultant representing members across a wide range of areas including Disciplinary, Grievance, Long Term Sickness, Persistent Short Term Absence and Harassment.
Steve Hands
Steve was a career banker, joining Lloyds straight from school and was, in his early days, an Instructor at the Bank's Training Centre at Hindhead. His first full managerial position was in the City of London and he was later selected for another teaching secondment as an Instructor at the Bank's Staff College at Kingswood. Thereafter he moved to the West Midlands to work in Lloyds Bank Commercial Service before being posted to Leeds as Senior Manager - Advances. From Leeds he returned south to be Group Senior Manager Bedford and finally Branch Director, Luton and Dunstable Group. He retired from the Bank in 1999 and has been with LTU for almost 10 years - initially working on the 24 hour Advice Line but for the last 5 years as an Individual Advice and Representation Consultant.
Richard Tucker
Richard joined the team of consultants after 37 years service in the bank. A Westcountryman by birth he spent most of his career in Devon and Cornwall apart from a spell in the Channel Islands and a secondment to the Bank's Management Centre. From his position as Senior Business Manager in Plymouth he joined the management committee of LTU and was involved in discussions between the Union and the Bank. Richard now uses his broad experience in the Bank to represent members at hearings. He combines this with his responsibilities as a Justice of the Peace, sitting on the Plymouth Bench.
